The Manuel C. Ramirez Foundation for Guitar Education

Manuel C. Ramirez (1923-2007), originally from Sabinal, TX, was a San Antonio-based guitarist in the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. A working class musician, family man, and US Army veteran during the Occupation of Japan in the 1940’s, Manuel held many careers throughout his life. In addition to his lifelong career as a performing guitarist alongside his brother Rodolfo C. Ramirez, Manuel held positions as a barber, contractor, and elevator operator in the San Antonio area. In 2013 Guitar SA President & Founder Jake Ramirez and the Ramirez family created the Manuel C. Ramirez Foundation for Guitar Education, a scholarship fund to support all Texas-based guitarists aspiring to further enrich their lives and careers with the guitar.
